Conwy Classical Music Festival: From Darkness to Light โ Prepare to be mesmerised by an evening of stunning and atmospheric choral music sung by the acclaimed choir of Kingโs College, London, under the direction of Joseph Fort. The programme will include works by John Tavener including โThe Hymn of the Unwaning Lightโ, โAs One who has sleptโ, and โThe Eternal Sonโ. The performance will culminate in a candle-lit performance of Rachmaninoffโs great choral work โAll Night Vigilโ, usually known as Rachmaninovโs Vespers. Ryedale Festival: Darkness to Light: A Concert for Ukraine โ As the First World War raged in 1915, Rachmaninov was horrified by the xenophobia that surrounded him. A genuine patriot, he remembered the sound of the church choirs he loved as a child and composed his All-Night Vigil (or Vespers) as a symbol of all that was most true and valuable in his culture, offering the first performance in aid of war relief.
